Join artist Amelia Broussard at the Genealogy and Local History Room to illustrate your family stories through art! In each workshop, you'll be guided in creating your own collage, zine, postcard, or printed artwork. We encourage you to bring a piece of your family history to incorporate, like a family recipe, a handwritten note from a loved one, or a treasured photograph.
Supplies will be provided, and all workshops are free and open to the public; no registration required. Printers and scanners are available.
There will be three artist-led workshops in the Genealogy Room and three drop-in sessions in the MaMo Gallery trailer. See calendar for full schedule. The OPL Mobile Library will be on-site offering circulation services during the Wednesday sessions.
The workshops will culminate in an exhibition titled, “Remnants of the Past”, headlined by Amelia Broussard, that will open on September 6th in conjunction with Benson First Friday art openings. Participants will have the opportunity to display their work in the MaMo gallery, alongside Amelia’s final exhibition in the MaMo trailer.
