I may try reading the book as I was disappointed in this movie adaptation. It was about an hour too long and while it had some some great parts (the homage scenes to the original Shining were the best) it really did drag along at times. I…

Awful and disappointing sequel to the Shining.

In response to daltenhofen's comments, I only have three questions: (1) Did you actually read THE SHINING? (2) Did you actually watch THE SHINING? (3) Did you actually read DOCTOR SLEEP?

I think this is a disgusting sad sick movie. I did not finish watching it. Any movie that shows the gruesome torture and murder of innocent children is sick and should never be shared. We see enough of this sick crap in the news everyday.

I should’ve stopped watching after the first 30 mins. Plot is a jumbled up mess, leaving the viewer with guesswork on how the characters are connected to each other. The violent scenes with children are unnecessary and disgusting. This was…

A really decent piece of work on many levels. Entertaining and the allusions to the Shining work quite well. Unlike the Shining acting is more subtle. Sometimes Jack Nicolson is an 8 ball waiting to happen. In contrast, Doctor Sleep…

I haven't seen "The Shining" in ages and still found this movie enjoyable! Good acting, really gorgeous visuals, and Rebecca Ferguson's character was a trip and a half. I probably need to stop being surprised when a Stephen King film…

Bookend sequel to The Shining post 20* years. Danny Torrence grown into very troubled man. Drinks his pain away, damps down ability to Shine which was lucky thing. Roving predator “family” constantly hunts children that Shine. Vampiric…

Loved this film. Not too dark at all and the ending was satisfying, and evil didn't win.

Decided not to watch the whole thing. Too dark

it had some moments but overall not very good. the villians weren't scary, alot of the story felt rushed and it generally rode on the kubrick film's coat-tails stylistically. when it did do its own thing it was bad.

Wow. Wasn't ready for how excellent this movie is. The screenplay, story, actors and script were fantastic. As far as sequels go, this is a classic considering the legend of The Shining. I'm gonna' buy it.

I watched this out of curiosity to see how it related to the original film. This one seemed to be a random jumble waiting for the power cord to be pulled from the wall.

Rebecca Ferguson (now in the movie Dune) is absolutely outstanding in her role and great to look at! The rest of the cast does a pretty gob job in this sequel.

Sequel to the Shining. Well acted and good plot. Rebecca Ferguson is great as the evil villain Rose and Ewen McGregor is very good as a tragic and damaged Danny.

More of a thriller than horror, it definitely grips you but many of the plot twists are predictable. An entertaining watch which has some disturbing scenes with great acting, but tricky to make the whole premise stick as it swerves toward…

This prequel to The Shining reminded me of why I was scared to walk home from the original movie! I am pretty sure my husband was a bit spooked as well (not that he'd admit it). I slept with the lights on after watching this.

I loved reading this book. So much. The fact that it's the sequel to The Shining, made it all that more intriguing to me to watch. The start was a little...confusing, but so starts the beginning of the second half of the story. With just…

Great story, acting, and visual. I find the first half of the movie a little slow. The second part is fun: with the chase, twist/turn, and the climax in the hotel where The Shining takes place.

(This is the 2.5 hours runtime theatrical release version and there is a 3 hr. long director's cut as well.) Sequel to the 1980 Shining as the son of Jack Torrance (Nicholson), Danny ( McGregor) team up with a tween to battle an evil…

Rather disappointed. No disrespect to Mr. King, but this film version played a little too predictable. Think I'll give the book a try.

Well, unfortunately, I was expecting much more from this picture due to it's connection to the 'King/Kubrick' masterpiece, 'The Shining'... Great imagery, with stunning visuals yet, otherwise pretty dull... Definitely, not a bad…

Doctor sleep is a fun movie, and considering what it is a sequel to, it is refreshing. The development is steady with attachment to characters able to be made, and the personalities, like, dislikes, all the aspects of a character are…
