Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is, she can't actually afford it--not any of it. Her job writing at Successful Saving magazine not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from the bank--letters with large red sums she can't bear to read. She tries cutting back. But none of her efforts succeeds. Her only consolation is to buy herself something . . . just a little something.

Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life--and the lives of those around her--forever.

Praise for Sophie Kinsella and Confessions of a Shopaholic

"A hilarious tale . . . hijinks worthy of classic I Love Lucy episodes . . . too good to pass up." -- USA Today

"Kinsella's Bloomwood is plucky and funny. . . . You won't have to shop around to find a more winning protagonist." -- People

"If a crème brûlée could be transmogrified into a book, it would be Confessions of a Shopaholic ." -- The Star-Ledger

"A have-your-cake-and-eat-it romp, done with brio and not a syllable of moralizing. . . . Kinsella has a light touch and puckish humor." -- Kirkus Reviews

Good book, read it whenever I had a second, didn't want to put it down! Although, I felt that the ending could've been better and that their was a lot of unnecessary moments and chapters in this book. I'm excited to see how the sequel will turn out.

It’s not very common that you will find a book as fun and intriguing as Sophie Kinsella’s ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’. This book is a must-read for chick-lit and fiction readers since it captures Rebecca’s hectic and energetic life in great detail making you only want to continue reading on forever! It was filled with ups and downs and it made me want to read the entire series in one day! I would recommend reading the book instead of the movie because the book explicitly describes everything and it is much easier to understand. Overall, this book was great from tip to toe and is a fun read for all ages. @AleenAther of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Great Book! Becky is a lovable, quirky character that you can't help but love, even when she frustrates you. If you love the Bridget Jones' books, you'll love this one.

This is an extremely entertaining book to read. It is very funny, especially with the many how-to-pay-off-debt scenarios that are absolutely hilarious. The book does let you feel the adrenaline of shopping and the dread of paying off the credit card bills.

I liked this book more than I thought . this book is awesome.
Rebecca Bloomwood is young, pretty and has a closet full of stylish clothes. The only problem is that she can't really afford these clothes. Everything she has bought she has paid for with her trusty VISA card. She never really remembered that she has to pay all this off one day. So when these scary letters from the bank come, she has no choice but to try and pay off her large amount of debt. this is a bit harder than she thinks and Becky gets caught in some sticky situations. she writes a column in the magazine Successful Saving. read this book and enjoy this amazing book.

This book is fast paced and a light enjoyable read, perfect for lounging or a day at the beach. Becky Bloomwood is an unlikely heroine in this series about a self-professed shopaholic who is always searching for the right balance.

This book (and it's sequel) gave me so anxiety. She keeps making terrible decisions and trying to deal with them herself, instead of talking it over with someone else. I understand it's supposed to be a lighthearted and funny novel, but for someone who fears things such as debt and the likes, it really wasn't my cup of tea. The book actually gave me nightmares, but that won't be everyone.
There wasn't so much laughing for me, as there was the need to take over Rebecca's life and make her decisions for her.

A patron review from the Adult Summer Game: "This book had me laughing out loud! It was a fun, light read and I was excited for the next book!"

I liked this book way more than I thought I would! At first, you want to scream at how stupid Rebecca is being, but by the end of the book, you're heaving a big sigh of relief. I can't wait to read the next book. It's a good, hot summer day read. There's also a lot of British slang sprinkled throughout the novel, which for me made it more fun to read.

It took me a while to get into this book, but it did turn out to be a cute story. It's definitely a nice summer read.
