Guided by the great blue dragon Tintaglia, a tangle of serpents fights its way up the Rain Wild River to the cocooning grounds. But the creatures which emerge from the cocoons are a travesty of the powerful, shining dragons of old; some cannot fly, others are stunted or deformed. To save the dragons, a band of dragon keepers, hunters and chroniclers must attend them if they are to find their true home--the legendary Elderling city of Kelsingra.

A bleed off of the Liveship traders books. Very fun.

Couldn't put it down. I don't usually read the same author sequentially because the novelty wears off. Started in with Dragon Haven and couldn't but it down.

Dragons are cool, but they have become so overused that they have started to lose that coolness. Enter Robin Hobb; these are not your typical dragons, for they are flawed and abandoned. Not only do they have their physical, and emotional problems, but they have to rely on people to survive. Unlike most dragons which are essentially perfect, these are on a journey of growth with their partners. For a story so full of struggles, there is a strange sense of hope by the end.

I am a huge Robin Hobb fan since her assassin series, don't miss these three books, I laughed, I cried, I loved this trilogy. Having said this the first book of the Rain Wilds Chronicles was pretty good. I was hooked, I enjoyed it and I look forward to the next book, what more could there be.

If you like Hobbs' work as I do, you would consider this quite enjoyable but not necessarily her best work. That remembers to be seen in the sequel, but it should be at least 4/5
