Some financial gurus insist you follow their plans simply because they know better. Get A Financial Life is all about empowering you with the knowledge you need to be your own financial guru and not have to rely on the advice of others. It's about making your own decisions, because frankly, you know way more about your financial situation than someone who's book you're reading and whom you've never met.

Decent summary of important concepts. Personally, I thought Rich B*tch by Nicole Lapin was more of a practical guide for budgeting while this felt more educational in tone. It does have a great section on understanding retirement accounts and investing options. Overall, a good read.

Extremely readable, easy-to-understand, and comprehensive. If you read one book about personal finance, this should be it!
