While preparing a particularly luxurious dinner for sophisticated international friends, our hostess discovers there are 13 guests. Panic-stricken, Anne insists her loyal maid Maria disguise herself as a mysterious Spanish noble woman to even out the numbers. But a little too much wine and some playful chat lead Maria to accidentally endear herself to a dandy British art broker. Their budding romance will have Anne chasing her maid around Paris and finally plotting to destroy this most unexpected and joyous love affair.

A good cast is wasted in this attempt at a rom-com based on the familiar 'mistaken identity' conceit in the fashion of Georges Feydeau. But here there is nothing approaching the sparkle and laugh-out-loud gags of that master of farce. Amanda Sthers, who wrote and directed this floperoo, deserves to be in the running for the next Golden Raspberry awards.

A cute French-American comedy that starts off slow and boring, then becomes funny but ends with a disappointment. the ending part was strange and confusing.

I give it 3 stars for some entertaining parts.

I truly enjoyed this movie. (And was surprised after reading so many negative comments.) Rossy de Palma, best known for Pedro Almodóvar frilms, is a delight. So is Toni Collette who is consistently unlikeable throughout to great comic effect. Lovely sets/location, great cinematography, and a bouncy soundtrack (which has turned into a bit of an earworm to be honest). The main complaint of many viewers has been the ending - but I thought it was lovely, realistic and HAPPY. Just thinking of de Palma's smile in the final frame... well, I shouldn't say anymore than that. Enjoy!

A pretty entertaining movie but the ending was disappointing. That's why I only gave it three stars. It is worth it just to see the great performance by Palma de Rossy. With a proper re-write it could easily have hit the four-star level. Pity!

The greater part of the movie was well done. The director should be creditted here. While the story was so well told, viewers had great expectation towards the end. However, this is where this movie is losing one star at least. The ending could either be happy or not, but at least should bring some surprise and not such cliche.

A decent idea but poorly done...look elsewhere.

This film is horrible and silly I wouldn't waste my time.

Best story I've seen in awhile. A great modern-day fairytale with a good storyline and perfect cast.

Off to a boring start at a dinner party. Picked up later on. Could not always understand the maid's dialogue. Can't recall what happened to the boy friend art dealer. Interesting scene at the swimming pool.
