This book is absolutely heartwarming. The setting is pre-WWII with a transition into WWII, and weaves a series of personal tragedies into a tapestry of healing for many in one small coastal village. The author claims this tale to be true and novelists could not write a better plot. The most practical and healing principle I came away with was a statement by one of the unlikely hero's when he said: Forgiveness is not an act.... "but a practice".

Well worth your time and heart's investment. This is one I would put into my permanent library.

I listen to audio books almost exclusively. Nothing makes a book more enjoyable than when the author reads the work he wrote, or consigns a story teller who has the capability of reading from the author's heart. This is one of those productions.
