Doyle does an amazing job with the characters and plot. Plus, a couple of parts you may find funny. The information about the dinosaurs is a little bit more than off. But you should expect that considering this was written in 1915,(I think it was 1915)

Discoverers find a prehistoric pocket of land on the earth that includes dinosaurs, ape-men and prehistoric fauna. The adventures are related to the reader by way of letters to London from Irish athletic reporter Malone about experiences encountered by Professor George Challenger. Colorful descriptions of the land and encounters make this a book well worth reading.

This was a very entertaining read. Dinoasures, ape men and quarreling scientists. I wish Doyle had wrtiten more science fiction, I found it much more fun to read than Wells or Verne. Sacrilege, I know-but true!

Oh hi, I'm Michael Crichton and I'm just going to steal this title from ACD. Seriously dude, be cool. Before dinosaurs were even a gleam in Crichton's eye, the creator of Sherlock Holmes wrote a novel about explorers finding dinosaurs in South America. It's a little cheesy and not very scientific, but it's a fun read. The basis for a 1920s silent film that had some pioneering special effects (available on YouTube).
