This book shows how charming and intricate mini cushions can be made by cross stitchers of all ages and abilities. Instructions for the basic cross stitch are given for the complete beginner, but impressive embellishments are described as well, so there is plenty for more experienced cross-stitchers too. Whether used as decorative additions, samplers, or adapted to make them full-size, these immaculate cushions will add a stunning touch of colour to the home.

All of these projects are built around the same basic design - a square with a 4-petal flower in the middle, dividing the cushion into four equal sections. There is a small pattern in the middle of each of the petals, and then another small pattern beyond the petals, which is usually a geometric pattern. She has some weird (to me) shading in the patterns; she takes an uneven third of the cushion and makes it lighter than the rest. If you don't like it, it would be easy enough to make all of it the same. I think that these designs could be modified to also be used for cards or ornaments.
