This is a nice book in terms of its format - chatty stories, great photographs - but several of the recipes I tried were simply not good. Disappointing.

great book. one of her better books. nothing too fussy. about time she did a none fussy cookery book.

Reading this book is a lot more fun than cooking dinner! Full of Nigella's warmth and humour, this book has lots of simple recipes and kitchen wisdom. I just have two complaints - this book is very large and heavy, making it a bit difficult to cook from, and the oven temperatures are not converted to Canadian temperatures! Those are small things, though, and this is worth the read if you're a fan of Nigella's, or just love easy, homemade comfort food.

Nigella is a riot! Her larger-than-life attitude and philosophy towards cooking is inspiring. Her irreverent commentary makes reading her books fun and interesting. Many of the recipes are hand-me-downs or adaptations from other sources, be it a favorite cookbook, an Aunt, a family friend, or a restaurant in some far-off region, but all are imbued with Lawson's wit and distinctive touch.
