A great book about the cultural history of Spain, specifically, and Europe, generally, rectifying the whitewashing, so to speak, that has erased from the popular imagination the Jews and the Muslims who preceded the Barbarians and lastly, Christians, of the Iberian Peninsula. The history also shows that religious intolerance among the surviving traditions is a modern problem that did not belong to medieval Spain.
