Just a few years after slaves are freed, a black family takes in a run away Apache boy. Sarah, whose only pal is a rambunctious hound named Buster, takes time to adjust to another family member. Sky, as the young brave is called, and Sarah have much to learn from each other and Sarah's parents about self discipline and the meaning of freedom.
