A friend of mine homeschooled' both her son and her daughter. We were talking about books one afternoon and I happened to ask her about some of her favorite books she had read. Shadow Spinner was one of the very first that she listed and talked quite a bit about it, but never gave anything away about the plot.

I am so glad that I found this delightful book. I appreciate Fletcher's skill in crafting the story which she fully admits to basing her book on Richard F Burton's English translation of The book of the Thousand Nights and a Night. I especially enjoyed that she gave her story "a Persian inflection since the in the tale of Shahrazad are of Persian derivation," because, like the author, I have a certain fascination with their culture and names.

I found this book to be interesting and there was some excitement, despite what some reviewers may state - but no, there are no car chases, no giant morphing robots duking it out, or space ships in flight. But the story stands well on its own and is quite beautiful. My thanks to the author. Well done.

My Mom read this book to my sisters and myself when we were in middle school. It has always stuck with me. The story is captivating! Great read for any age.

The imagery and description in this book is so rich that a person can get lost in it. The story balances moods of adventure, apprehension, hope, and fear in a way that allows the reader to truly understand the environment and stakes that the narrator is experiencing.
