A great mystery series set in rural England & to get the most out of it, start at the beginning. There is a real progression in terms of the characters' lives & interpersonal histories. The books are atmospheric, full of quirky people & contain intricate murder mysteries you'll have to read right to the end to discover the bad guy. On a separate note, if for some reason you feel the need to pick up a pencil & edit/change the author's words, please buy your own copy. Those of us who use the library would like to read their work as they intended, not scribbled over with your "corrections".
