Golda Meir grew up on the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She harbored an incredible dream: she wanted to help the Jewish people build a new home. Her arduous journey led to a dusty kibbutz in Palestine and the struggle to establish the nation of Israel. Through hardship, war, and countless sacrifices, Golda survived it all and became Israel's first female prime minister. A stunning reminder that one life can truly make a difference.

An excellent film about the life of the former Prime Minister of Israel. Such an admirable character she was as brilliantly portrayed by Ingrid Bergman in her last acting role before her death. KadyW

I'm surprised to keep finding superb TV movies from the past at the library. This is an absorbing, beautifully acted biography of Golda Meir, an important figure in establishing the state of Israel. Judy Davis, who was amazing as Judy Garland in another early TV movie, is terrific, as usual, as the younger Golda Meir, But Ingrid Bergman is magnificent as Golda Meir the leader. Bergman plays the part down to the tips of her toes in one of her best performances. The two-part movie also provides lots of valuable information about the formation of the state of Israel.
