I thought Jodi Picoult seemed a bit lost at the beginning (maybe intimidated by the genre, or just not confident?). However, the series picked up steam and by the end was pretty good. The artwork is fantastic, and the story more compelling as it unfolded.

This isn’t a great work of Wonder Woman fiction nor is it one of comic book fiction. This isn’t Jodie Picoult’s finest work either. Perhaps that’s because she only had five issues to work with and then had to hand the reins to the next writer. DC Comics made such a big deal about a woman author writing this iconic woman character but this is just disappointing.

These five issues were given the hardcover treatment when the story just ends in a cliff-hanger. What’s the point of collecting these issues without completing the story? It’s probably because it was concluded be a man and regular comic writer. So if these 5 issues are to judged on their own merit there’s really nothing special about them. Maybe if Picoult had the chance to write the character outside of regular continuity in a special format like Brad Meltzer’s Identity Crisis, her brief foray into comics would be something noteworthy.
