This volume is the product of a research project on the maritime implications of globalization sponsored by the Dept. of the Navy and carried out by the Institute for Nat. Strategic Studies at the Nat. Defense Univ. Particular effort was made to elicit contributions from a broad range of experts with diverse sets of experiences and perspectives, with individual authors from the Dept. of the Navy, the Joint Staff, intelligence agencies, other war colleges, and civilian universities.
