The main characters are Captain Haddock and Tintin. They are searching and fighting about three scrolls. My favorite part is the Unicorn which is the ship with fifty guns.

I decided to read this book first because I heard the Steven Spielberg/ Peter Jackson motion caputure film of this property coming out in the US in Dec. 2011 would be at least participally based on this book. It's fun and adventurous and more than a little sily as it relies on repeated slapskickish situations. Frequently, there's way too much exposition and Herge could have learned from more modern co,mic books to vary his layouts so they don't always look like newspaper comic strips. But I found it entertaining enough to go on reading more books in the series. They're a quick enough read that I can get through a volumn in 2-3 half-hour lunches while preparing and eating lunch, so I frequently take these books to work.
