A truly suspenseful story showing how the peace-loving Amish community bands together in times of trials, hardships, and murder. This book is very well written and the details given explaining the lifestyle and faith differences between the Amish and English shows a lot of research on the author's part. The characters come alive, the action is well paced and the murderer is a mystery until very near the end. The Amish children were shown to be much like the English children in their acts of deceit, but in the big scheme of things, their best intentions were for the safety of others and several people were saved as a result. Though often competing with Max, Shane makes his romantic feeling with Callie known and she responds in kind. Great book!
