Mostly abstract narration and garish illustrations; effective in spite of the shortcomings though.

I am deeply grateful that Fantagraphics has reprinted this famed but rarely encountered book in such a gorgeous and accessible format. Reading this is an overwhelming experience: intense, profound, uncomfortable, disturbing and maddening, as the author no doubt intended.
