While driving two lovelorn mail-order brides from Denver, Obadiah Gump is attacked by five rifle-wielding Apache braves. Fortunately for the three travelers, John Slocum happens to be passing by, on his way to deliver some horses. After the braves are gone, Slocum learns that the wagoner and his precious cargo are headed for the same town- Deadfall.
When the Apaches return in the night, Slocum is ready for them. Obadiah recognizes one of their attackers-a man who works for Mordecai Wisner, the same man who hired Slocum to transport the horses. And when Obadiah mentions that Wisner's responsible for a number of graves outside of Deadfall, Slocum knows he better watch his back when he delivers his cargo-and hope he doesn't join ranks with the dead...
