More Spillane than Bosch, Elvis Cole sometimes tries too hard to jest when he should be dodging and shooting. Overall enjoyable for the easy flow and endless odd characters he works for and against.

A fun read with a wise-cracking Elvis Cole and his deadly partner Joe Pike. A book treasured by the Japanese for its elaboration of bushido has been stolen. Can our intrepid detective find and retrieve it? Pull up a chair and put up your feet and find out.

This is #2 in the Elvis Cole P.I. series. It is full of the usual wise cracks, murder, and mayhem. I didn't count the number of those who were killed, but suffice it to say that the number was high. If you can bear the violence, this series is always good for a quick, interesting, fun read.

Pike's mouth twitched. I cleared my place and washed the dishes. I went back upstairs, took another shower, then dressed and put the Dan Wesson under my arm.

When I went downstairs again, Joe Pike was waiting.
