I have to disagree with StarGladiator.
This novel tackles the conundrum of mind versus technology beautifully. Never losing sight of the fact that the mind created the technology to begin with. The detective who plays the role of "techno Luddite" adds the element of humanism to an otherwise pretty wild concept. I found the book to be quite entertaining and recommend it as a good weekend read.

Oh wow! This author is a neurosurgeon, a biomedial engineer with a boatload of patents, and presumably he took time off to write a thoroughly boring, bland book? Very shallow, very superficial, no depth, no substance to be found.
