This book provides an intimate look at the personal experience of being a pioneer in the sustainability movement, laying bare the emotional, spiritual and financial impact of a life lived in the service of change. Activist, farmer, publisher or philosopher; each of the people in these pages has a unique tale to tell. This is a book written by ordinary folks whose lives have been transformed by their willingness to commit themselves unreservedly to the creation of a better world.

Fourteen individuals provided essays about their lives and their work in the sustainability movement. It was quite interesting to read how they came to do the work they’ve done, and why. Each person’s story is in that person’s voice, so naturally I enjoyed some more than others because their voices caught me up. I have two favourites: Gary Phillips and Megan Toben. I'd love to spend time with them, share stories, work together. I enjoyed almost all the stories in this book. I recommend it highly.
