Poor character development, simplistic plot. I've read lots of good murder mysteries. This is not one of them.

This is #6 in a series of books set in Rio de Janiero and that feature a Chief Inspector Espinosa; the Rio street names are less of a clutter here than in previous books in the series; the main problem with this book is that there are one or two leaps in the story that are completely unexplained; you want to say “when did they learn that and how?” but the author probably did not work out his answers to such questions and included those elements because he couldn’t figure out a clearly-logical way to bring the story to a conclusion; for shame.
