This is an interesting book that chronologically gives the reader a view of the development of psychology, but done without a narrative to try to make it coherent. In that sense, its a book for dipping into. The further reading guide at the end is far superior to other books in this series which tend to have 'tinyurl' websites for the most part, while this one actually has books for the most part. Doesn't give mush criticism of the underhandedness of the 'profession' and there is nothing about the antipsychology movement.

Pickren's entry into the Sterling Milestone series is worth the read for anyone mildly interested in psychology OR history.
With brief synopses of critical points in the development of psychology, the reader will quickly learn a little about a lot. The chronological format of the book is utilized well, and makes it easy for readers to follow the sometimes confusing history of psychology. Although at times it can get a bit lengthy or repetitive in its' descriptions, Pickren generally does a good job in presenting the information in layman's terms.

There are many landmark psychology concepts in human history. The author summarised one concept per page (on the left) in this book with a photo, painting or picture on the right. The paintings, photos and pictures were well chosen. Entertaining to see these visual arts. If you want a quick read on each landmark psychology concept, this is a good book.
