Throughout these 11 stories, "Heiny chronicles the ways in which we are unfaithful to each other, both willfully and unwittingly. Maya, who appears in the title story and again in various states of love, forms the spine of this linked collection, and shows us through her moments of pleasure, loss, deceit, and kindness just how fickle the human heart can be"--Dust jacket flap.

This was a nice collection of well-written, interesting short stories. One comment mentioned it might be nice to read a few stories and then put the book down for a little while, then read some more. I think that is a good idea. I think the stories will be much more appreciated if they aren't read one right after another through the whole book.

Quirky, candid, wonderfully written short stories. The theme is unfaithfullness and it's probably best to read a story or two at a time instead of being buried under all of the infidelity. I love how Katherine Heiny captures our human foibles and casts no judgement upon her characters. Well done!
