A continuation of growth of sound and confidence, Angel Olsen's second album contains some of her best work (although that can be said of any of her albums, really). The first things you notice are an expanded musical palate and Olsen's full embrace of rock ("Forgiven/Forgotten", "High & Wild", "Stars"). While I love this louder side of Olsen's work, I keep returning to the more disquieting songs, especially "Enemy", which features only voice and guitar, and the sublime "Windows." Beautifully strange and essential.
It's hard to pick a favorite amongst so many great tunes but I'd go with "White Fire".
