As much acclaim that SOA has received... this series... for so many reasons... has far surpassed that series. The storylines were far superior, acting much better, on the whole. It took me a season, or so, to warm up to, but, having seen most of the best TV drama series... this should be in the top 5.. hands-down.....Sad that it's over.... Enjoy !!

"This ain't my first rodeo." The final, triumphant season of one of my favorite TV shows in recent years. While it received its share of acclaim, it remained somewhat under the radar, perhaps because it was seen as another cop show. But it's much more. Based on characters by Elmore Leonard, it features his trademark droll dialogue, laconic lawmen, and gregarious criminals who aren't as smart as they think. This season returns to the core of the show, which is the relationship between Raylan, Boyd, and Ava. The acting in this show has never been less than stellar and the three leads have such a natural rapport at this point. A well-cast Sam Elliott joins as a criminal looking to take over Harlan, Mary Steenburgen returns, and Garret Dillahunt plays one of Elliott's henchmen. The ending is quite satisfying and the show goes out on top.

Conclusion of The Ballad of Boyd Crowder and Raylan Givens ... some holes and loose ends but good enough after 6 long seasons of mayhem in Harlan County Kentucky. A minor irritation is the writers decided to put the Crowder's eccentric way of straight face speaking on everyone's lips, thus watering down those coming from the antagonist's own.

Wynn: Raylan Givens, Boyd Crowder, and Avery Markham are soon to converge, Mr. Vasquez. Like the aligning of the planets, if those planets carried guns and hated my guts.

Boyd: How you know I wasn’t some Boy Scout looking for his tent?
Raylan: Your teeth glow in the dark.

Avery: If he knows, put a bullet between his eyes. And if he doesn't know, put a bullet between his eyes anyway.

Boyd: There ain't nothing in my life ever come for free. ... You ever heard that a whisper will get you a hell of a lot further than a roar? ... I gave up guessing why people do what they do a long time ago. ... Damn, son, you about talk as much as I do.
