"Enormous Smallness is a nonfiction picture book about the poet E. E. Cummings. Here E.E.'s life is presented in a way that will make children curious about him and will lead them to play with words and ask plenty of questions as well. Lively and informative, the book also presents some of Cummings's most wonderful poems, integrating them seamlessly into the story to give the reader the music of his voice and a spirited, sensitive introduction to his poetry."--Amazon.com.

AR Reading Level- 5.2
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” E. E. Cummings started experimenting with words and pictures as a young boy, making up poems before he could even write. He studied hard and wrote as often as he could, and when he was older he began to write in a very new and exciting way with lowercase letters where capitals normally go and with playful punctuation. Some people didn’t like his writing, but soon he became one of the most beloved American poets for his surprising and imaginative style. Many of his actual poems fill this book and this rhyming biography is written in a similar manner to his own poetry with a playful use of words and pictures.

This is a delightful picture book about a famous poet. The author emulates cummings as he experiments with language and punctuation throughout the book. Good read-along book during a poetry lesson.
