Fiona doesn't remember going to sleep. But when she opens her eyes, she discovers her entire world has been altered-her house is abandoned and broken, and the entire neighborhood is barren and dead. Even stranger is the tattoo on her right wrist-a black oval with five marks on either side-that she doesn't remember getting but somehow knows she must cover at any cost. And she's right. When the honeybee population collapsed, a worldwide pandemic occurred and the government tried to bio-engineer a cure. Only the solution was deadlier than the original problem-the vaccination turned people into ferocious, deadly beasts who were branded as a warning to un-vaccinated survivors. Key people needed to rebuild society are protected from disease and beasts inside a fortress-like wall. But Fiona has awakened branded, alone-and on the wrong side of the wall.

Real rating...uhm...I guess 1.25 stars. It sort of had potential but...?

DNF at about 40%. (Approximately.)

“Stung” seemed fairly interesting at first glance. Retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but in a dystopian setting? Yeah, I could go with that. But other than the bee sting replacing the main character pricking her thumb, her prolonged sleep (and Arrin comparing her to Sleeping Beauty), the retelling aspect fell fairly flat. If I didn’t know this was a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, I don’t really think I would think that it was one. It was like the author was trying a little to hard to make it seem like a retelling, but it didn’t...really...work.

I found the writing to be choppy, a little lacking in detail, and a bit bland. As far as characters go, none of them were very likeable at all. I get it, Fiona was in a sort of coma for about four years, but...oh my god, she was just so, so, annoyingly unintelligent and oblivious. Total stereotypical damsel in distress. And I kind of hated the fact that when she looked in the mirror when she first woke up, she was basically perfect as far as appearances go. Long, straight hair, flawless body...give me a break. Stop.
The other characters were just overused, emotionless clones of your typical, toughened-up dystopian teens/children. A bit too hard and cold to be realistic. Arrin was pretty annoying, and the fact that I imagined her voice as like Gizmo’s voice in Teen Titans Go! did not help at all. I’m glad we didn’t have to endure her for very long. Dreyden got on my nerves, and I got the feeling that he and Fiona were gonna fall in love. Oh, Jesus. Make the insta-love go awaaaaaaaay...

Awesome dystopia! Can't wait to share with my students. A lot of action, held my interest and read quickly. I'm enjoying the sequel, "Cured" a lot right now.

Amazing book! I love how they even found time in this post-apocalypses world for a little romance! I know when I have nothing to read, I can always pick up a copy of this book!

In a world where bees are extinct, Fiona Tarsis wakes up after a coma with a tattoo on her hand. A tattoo of an oval with 5 legs on each side. She knows she must conceal the mark because those who have the tattoo have become violent, mindless, bloodthirsty beasts that roam the streets. The country divides the people who are branded and the people who have no brand. But Fiona is different, she's normal and she woke up on the wrong side of the wall. I love this book so much! It was a fascinating read and the right amount of swoon to go with it. I just wanted to keep reading and reading and I forced myself to stop several times. I was hypnotized with this book from the beginning to the end. I rate this 5/5.

One of the most amazing books ever. I've read both the books like five times each. Also if you really like this book then you should read another of Bethany Wiggins' books called shifting.

A very good apocalyptic book about a new type of flu strain. Creative and a bit different. Good read.

Unless your a Trekkie type, this book is gonna suck. It's all sci-fi about a fictional apocalyptic apian flu. The writing is abysmal and the story predictable. The only reason I finished it was because I always finish books I start, but what a waste of words.
