In the Middle East, a new insurgency has begun, along with a proliferation of Monsters in the region. To combat the increased threat, the US Army drafts new recruits, and the story follows four fresh recruits from Detroit on a special mission: to rescue five soldiers who have been lost deep in the Infected Zone. The main focus of their mission is human, but they are instructed to take down any creatures that get in the way along the route.

Add a CommentLooks like most viewers missed the monster metaphor as imaginary beings in the war. From the DVD cover: ... These soldiers embark on a life-altering mission through the dark heart of monster territory in the deserts of the Middle East. By the time they reach their goal, they will have been forced to confront their fear that the true monsters on the planet may not be alien after all.". As many had suggested, may be a better war movie without the Monsters angle or another approach on the monstrosity of war.
The original film had wonderful subtext that has been replaced in this sequel with modern war film cliches. It's never a good sign when the "protagonists" get killed off, and you don't care. Watch the original film. Don't waste your time on this one.
The U.S. Armed forces behavior in the Middle East was so egregious that this movie was made.
To Involuntary laughing audience - "Were there any aliens in the Middle East? Would they appreciate this? "Were the Palestinians ever terrorists?"
