I've seen better but I've seen a lot worse. There were a couple of charming moments like the party and the end of the movie but other than that it was not very entertaining.
The plot is shallow. The acting is 2nd rate. A typical chick flick. However the scenery is great, and I kinda liked it in the end.
This is a strange, kind of a mess of a movie. I watched it because I really like Emma Stone and Rachel McAdams. But... I'm so glad I saw this movie because of the last scene. The movie is worth watching for that last scene. Beautiful, made me cry. I watched the last scene three times. Wow.
Confusing and boring, gave up before finishing.
My wife and I love this movie--we watch it endlessly. To us the acting is superb, across all of the star-studded cast. Unfortunate that Crowe tried too hard to portray the cosmopolitan racial makeup of the Islands, since that controversy apparently turned off critics and viewers alike. While Emma Stone has apologized for taking the role of Captain Ng, she is the brilliant heart of Aloha. The scene as Brian's daughter slowly realizes he is her father is beautiful beyond description. Try to overlook Rotten Tomatoes--as if you always, or even often, agree with the critics--and judge for yourself. After all, the film is free at the library.
Amazing cast and an amazing location but this movie was just okay. Something about the plot just didn't gel or make enough sense. Maybe it was too convoluted for me but I just couldn't rally behind it.
The end of the movie is the only touching moment. There is no story what so ever. It looks improvised and awful acting.
Was looking forward to an evening watching this movie, but was sorely disappointed. I could not even watch it for long. I could not fathom what was going on, too many plot lines and bad acting. I checked out the reviews after the fact, and found I was not alone in my opinion.
terrible movie - so confusing. what a waste of time. Couldn't even finish this.
Charming movie with a fantastic cast and lovely bonus features.
