I gave this multiple stars for readability. If you like Parker, teen fiction, and (relatively) low-key thrillers, it's a good read. And it's not fair that the central McGuffin torques my shorts.

But let's face it. when the characters need to find out about 'roids, and the good-student character, after surfing the web to no avail, says, "I mean, why can't [the adults] say, you know, some people think steorids do this, and some people think they do that, and here are the known facts," Abby said. "Why isn't there anyplace like that to go to?"

Libraries, people! Librarians and libraries! We can find five places "like that" without breaking a sweat!

Other than that, occasional potty language, and the teen hero having to reiterate that he thinks the murder victim was gay, and he doesn't care about it (we know, you're a stand up kid, and we love you for it, but after the fifth time, it gets repetitive) it's a solid page-turner.

I have enjoyed Parker's writing for years. This was a great read and a nice change from his Spenser novels
