A body is found exactly where Andrew Cragg said it would be, and the subsequent investigation plunges Vicary into a labyrinth world of contract killings, witness intimidation and large-scale money laundering. Having just finished reading this and two other books by the same author, I found it very irritating to read the same rhyming slang used in all three and the constant use by police and felons alike of the word "geezer" throughout the books! A reference to a thesaurus could provide some variations on the word and I cannot believe that police and felons are only capable of using one word to describe a man. Also the once again, constant use of "battle cruiser" for boozer, or pub became increasingly tedious and shows a lack of imagination. Mr. Turnbull builds a fine plot however,
which is spoiled by his overuse of Cockney rhyming slang (not every villain comes from the East End of London). I also found some of the language clumsy and old fashioned given that the books are supposed to take place in the present day. I don't think I will be bothered to read any more of Mr. Turnbull's books!
