From Library Staff

"I started out with certain expectations of possible vampires because of the title but half way through I have no idea who or what the bad guys are and am enjoying not knowing what will happen next."

It took me FOREVER to get through this one. The story was really unbelievable and the characters were fairly underdeveloped. I wish this book had ended up more as an archaeological dig of the Palais du Papillon instead of some weird run through a labyrinth, being chased by some kind of creature that is never adequately explained, as well as being hunted by some corporation with no satisfying reason. By the time some answers are finally given out, which took way too long to happen, the answers are ridiculous and made all the pain of getting to them not worth the time. Very disappointing book.

I picked this up based on the cover--and guess what, that's okay! Because this turned out better than I expected. It's got some history, mystery, and then (surprise!) turns into this (bloody) thriller. It's a bit hard to follow near the end, but don't let that discourage you. It helped get me out of my YA reading slump, too.

This was a pretty good story. I did find it a bit hard to follow, though

This was an interesting thriller/mystery/supernatural story that kept me on my toes, but I just had a hard time really getting into it. I wasn't totally sold on the way the teenagers got to this manor, though I understand why it was set up the way it was. I did enjoy the plot-twists we slowly learn about as we read this story. Overall, it was an interesting read, just not my forte!
