A must read for any mystery and horror fans

I really enjoyed this book! The terror, suspense, spine tingling twists, well developed characters, and the gruesomeness combine to create a perfect manifestation of a true horror novel. I would have loved if the author formed a romance between Koichi and Mei, which I would probably have given the book a perfect 5. Other than that, by far, my most favourite horror fiction of all time; highly recommended!

I am in love with this book. Well written and great characters. The story had me hooked from the beginning. The best part is that there is no bad language in the book (however there is bad language in the anime - not sure why - boo).

This book was just spooky enough and just mysterious enough to give me the heebie jeebies when reading it alone in the dark. The mystery part of it really carries the reader along. I was surprised it was cataloged as an adult fiction book since the setting is middle school with middle school students as the primary characters, but once I got into it I understood why. It was refreshing to read a book that wasn't a YA novel in Western culture that still had teens as the main characters without it being a serious drama (I really dislike sad stories). As soon as I finished, I had to check out the graphic novel version, which happens to be just as thick if not thicker!

Frightening or Intense Scenes: Several scenes are extremely brutal, violent, and gory that may even make an adult cringe with fright. Read with caution.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: There are several intensely violent scenes in the book after all it's about a curse. The end is particularly intense.
