I'm a Ruth Ware fan love all her books and when recommended this book i had to give it a try and I'm glad i did.Looked for more books by Erica Ferenik but this is her first and i hope she has something in the works for us that will be coming out soon. The River at Night was a real page turner and it's been awhile since I've read a book i just can't put down.
This book follow a group of female friends who find themselves in a perilous, isolated situation. The story moves quickly and I genuinely could not put the book down once the women found themselves on the river. Readers who like a little action and a little terror will enjoy this fast-paced thriller.
Easy to read book, however, it's very predictable. As I read it I was constantly reminded of the movie "Deliverance" except instead of 4 men on a canoe trip in the middle of nowhere, the book has 4 women in the same situation. Maybe because I've seen "Deliverance", I felt this book was completely unoriginal and too predictable.
Thriller about an outdoor adventure that becomes a nightmare for four unsuspecting woman trying to "find themselves". Started off really well then veer off into a unrealistic plot line. Very disappointed in plot line and characters.
Really enjoyed this book, read it in a day, couldn't put it down - had to know what happened
Contrary to some of the other comments, I found this book to be a real page turner once it got going. Sure there were some this and thats, and oh how convenient things, but overall I give it a thumbs up.
By page 30. I was already annoyed by how inaccurately the protagonist's career was portrayed (I'm in the same industry). By page 75, I found every character either thoroughly unlikeable or uninteresting. Halfway through, the overwhelmingly unrealistic plot devices made me want to scream and then stop. But like a masochist, I made myself finish it. This book was shite.
This would be a good summer read. Moves fast.
Wonderfully fast paced, with a fantastic main character in Wini. Too bad the plot can't decide if it wants to DELIVERANCE or not; the boom would have been stronger had it kept its focus on the four women at its core.
I was looking forward to this book as it combines 2 of my favorite genres - outdoor adventure and survival. The beginning of this book was like a YA book of high school girls and I was a little disappointed. But after the rafting accident, it got a little better. Didn't have the intense feeling of fear and danger or depth of story that I was expecting, but it was entertaining. I read it in a day, so there was apparently enough content to keep my interest.
