This restored version from the Criterion Collection offered pretty good colour, gorgeous costumes and a decent story. The special effect is laughable by today's standard. But still it is worthwhile if you want to know how fantasy films were made decades ago.

Wow. Despite the numerous things that are wrong with this in tiny details (telephone or electrical supply wires in the sky despite this being around the year zero, the number of young ladies dressed in various degrees of "harem dress" that varies wildly for no reason, a number of icons and dialects that would be normal for Mumbai but not for a good thousand kilometres to the North West), this is one amazing piece of work for 1940! The special effects are impressive, and the job people have done on the restoration of both picture and colour is phenomenal! the story is... meh... but the movie over all is spectacular.

This is an older movie so it doesn't have some of the special effects of modern day movies but they do a pretty good job nonetheless, considering the time period. Really enjoyable and nice story!
