Very captivating and exciting read. Very dark at times, but that could be because I read all of it in three hours. Still, it is definitely the most intense and desperate (even frightening) of the series, but, as we know and love, Rick Riordan's humour can do a little to lighten up even the darkest of times.

Problem: My parents almost didn't let me read this one because of Nico's, um, "character development" (as R.R. puts it on his website). Personally, it made sense that a boy his age, having gone through what he had, would feel that way, but, looking at it from an author's strictest point-of-view, it really didn't do anything to enhance the plot or improve the series. If anything, it just took up space.

But do not let it be thought that I do not have a soft spot for Nico Di Angelo. I've always felt so bad for him and this latest book only enhanced that feeling.

Also, if it weren't for this whole Nico-Will thing, I think Nico would make a good match for Reyna!

The ninth book of the Greek Gods Series is excellent. We love that R.R made this series, hope that more come after he finished the Norse Myths.

“I figure the world is basically a machine. I don't know who made it, if it was the Fates, or the gods, or the capital-G god or whatever. But it chugs along the way it's supposed to most of the time. Sure, little pieces break off and stuff goes haywire once in a while, but mostly... things happen for a reason.”

Other: I love how everyone mentions *spoilers* that Nico is gay, but dosn't mention any of the other relationships in the book that go way further that whatever *more spoilers* that weird thing with cupid was. odd, odd scene. Also, it felt thrown in. Like, from a story standpoint it did nothing. and now i'm on a rant so I will leave.
