In a colorful yet gritty 1970s Boston, Justine, a mysterious American businesswoman, and her wise-cracking associate Ord, arrange a black-market weapons deal in a deserted warehouse between IRA arms buyer Chris and shifty South African gun runner Vernon. What starts as a polite if uneasy exchange soon goes south when tensions escalate and shots are fired, quickly leading to a full-on Battle Royale where it's every man (and woman) for themselves.

There were a few moments in this film where I thought Samuel Beckett had rewritten "Reservoir Dogs," but with better dialogue and more shooting. A gun deal goes south in a Boston warehouse and a bunch of criminals dressed in 70s clothes have to shoot it out. Almost all of the action takes place in the warehouse and it plays out in real time. These elements add to a somewhat conventional storylline, as does the fine cast and the groovy fashions. Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, Armie Hammer, Sam Riley, and Noah Taylor star. Directed by Ben Wheatley, whose cockeyed take on genre films also includes "Kill List," the Ballard adaptation "High-Rise," and whatever the hell "A Filed in England" was.

wow, i couldn't agree with the earlier comments more. the shootout was about 50 minutes too long. some character backstory would've been nice, maybe some flashbacks throughout? but nothing. i tend to like characters who act professionally like Ord, (ala Mr. Pink)

last i checked, the library isn't charging us, so it's ok

The whole movie is an extremely loud, long gun fight. If that's your thing this is your flick.

This was an ok shoot 'em up- it's a pretty brainless affair- still-it's an entertaining Ben Wheatley film after the painful " High Rise ".

Promising Reservoir Dogs premise but turns out to a one silly drawn out shoot them up skit that a bunch of everyone for themselves gangsters who made accidental shots so tough that Jack Reacher wouldn't try or missed aimed shots a blind nun wouldn't. Probably less than 30 minutes of worthy footage without the crawling around time ... There were a few funny dialogues but best watched in 1.5X speed or faster.

Longest & silliest gun fight, takes a bunch to knock off any of `em. Surprise ending, not a bad film but i`m wondering why it was made...

Meh! The characters weren't developed enough to care if they were killed or not. If you like a good shootout, watch it. If you like good movies, don't.

Movie is one giant shoot-out scene, with humor coming from a basket of quirky characters.

The only way to describe this is the last scene from Reservoir Dogs, spread over 90 minutes, with some humor.
