While it gave me some answers that I've wanted for awhile, it was very predictable and weighted down by common plot armor. This could have been a very story driven story but was given instead to a bloody disgusting genre.

Okay. Let me see if I've got this. You put a 100 billion dollar plus spaceship together and you crew it with lame-o extras from central casting, and write up a script that makes B level comic books look literary. And, oh, nearly forgot, you land on an alien planet and take zero, like really zero, biological protection protocols. Duh.

I love sci-fi. Expected more but the movie failed to deliver. A bit disappointed, but it's still a good movie.

Nothing new here. Simply a stylish and elaborate reworking of the original Alien film. Also a reworking of The Thing (1982). The same theme keeps manifesting itself over and over again. I am looking for originality, and this doesn't cut it. Acting is wooden.

Boring and predicable. Not scary or interesting at all. Don't waste your time

How the mighty have fallen. As a huge fan that loves the Alien franchise, I have to say that this was awful.

I enjoyed the movie. If you have not seen the original you can still watch this one. I thought it was more like a gory slasher flick and less like a thriller. All in all, I give it two thumbs up.

We're in a cultural moment, where almost every beloved (and not so beloved) film has been rebooted, recycled, and remade. "Alien" and "Aliens" are indisputable classics and two of the most perfectly constructed movies ever made. The third and fourth entries were flawed, but better than their reputation suggests, and the less said about the "Alien vs. Predator" movies the better. So did "Alien" director Ridley Scott need to return to the series after 3 decades for "Prometheus"? Not really. Attempting to fill in the backstory, it only dissipated the carefully created mythology. "Alien: Covenant" picks up after "Prometheus" and could've had the tagline "In space no one can hear you talk too much." It looks great, as Scott films usually do, the cast is solid (Double Fassbenders!), and there are some genuinely scary moments. It's also slow, chatty, and very predictable if you've seen the series. I won't be surprised if we see more.

At this point in the franchise, it's pretty predictable. Still, it's worth a view for the solid production values and Fassbender's dual performance.
