Kind-of a long and confusing "documentary" style movie. They never did show the actual footage of the televised suicide. That would have been the most fascinating part.

This movie within a movie is a fascinating look at both the acting process and societal morbid curiosity. Christine Chubbock was a newscaster for a local TV station who famously killed herself on live TV. The question becomes - Why would a successful, beautiful, intelligent woman do this? Of course, we all have our demons, but why so public? Kate is a rather timid person in real life. She is the actress who has taken on the role of Christine. By talking to those who knew her or knew of her, she learns that Christine was not timid, but rather bold. Was her final act one of cowardice or bravery? Can it be explained logically? Sarasota, Florida makes for an interesting backdrop. This sleepy and, at times, serene city is like another character in the film. The people Kate talks to are quietly colorful. Though the pretext is that the movie is about Christine Chubbock, in the end, it is really about Kate and what she learns about herself in becoming Chris.
