I recommend this movie series to adults. The Mockingjay is the main character. She is a teenager from a poor village. This is a love story. The script is about a dictatorship having an abundance of food while the poor are starving. The government oppresses the poor. Lots of violence happens. There is subtle sexual scenes. This movie is not good for children. For adults, it will be fast moving with lots of action. The script is the struggle for the poor to survive. The poor abused stand up for their rights. The Mockingjay is their beacon of courage to ask for change and dare to demand respect.

Great movie! Not a lot of action though, but very dramatic.:)

Apparently the screenwriter and the directer expect half the audience to have not read the books or seen the other movies. Once you suffer through the first 20 minutes the pace picks up and it turns into a pretty good film. Don't give up too soon, but have your Sudoku ready to fill in while you wait.

Hopefully the next one will be better. No plot and very little character development.

Are you, are you coming to the tree where they strung up a man, they say who murdered three. Strange things did happen here no stranger would it be, if we met at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you coming to the tree where the dead man called out for his love to flee. Strange things did happen here no stranger would it be if we met a midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you coming to the tree where I told you to run, so we'd both free. Strange things did happen here no stranger would we be if we met a midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you coming to the tree, were a necklace of rope side by side with me. Strange things did happen here no stranger would it be if we a met at midnight in the hanging tree.
YEAH! Great song and movie.

Like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow part 1, this first installment is one long set up for part 2, which should be with more explosive special effects, intriguing twists and climatic ending, all three elements barely moved the needle in part 1. Unlike in American Hustle, JL did not lip-sync and actually sang the ballot "The Hanging Tree" (see summary for lyric from the book).

I have not sung “The Hanging Tree” out loud for ten years, because it’s forbidden, but I remember every word. I begin softly, sweetly, as my father did. “Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where they strung up a man they say murdered three. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.” The mockingjays begin to alter their songs as they become aware of my new offering. “Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where the dead man called out for his love to flee. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.”
“Are you, are you Coming to the tree Where I told you to run, so we’d both be free. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.” A hush in the trees. Just the rustle of leaves in the breeze. But no birds, mockingjay or other. Peeta’s right. They do fall silent when I sing. Just as they did for my father. “Are you, are you Coming to the tree Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me. Strange things did happen here No stranger would it be If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.”

Suzanne Collins. Mockingjay

From IMDb:
Katniss: I have a message for President Snow: You can torture or bombed us, blasted our district to the grounds. But do you see that ? Fire Is Catching... If we burn, you burn with us!
===
President Snow: Ms. Everdeen, it's the things we love the most that destroy us.
