Long eBooks for Socially-Distanced People
I’m writing this post during the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope everyone is doing well, both physically and mentally. While library branches are currently closed, the eBook collection is still available! If you find yourself with a lot more free time at home, this post might be helpful to you, as it leans toward genres known for length. I have compiled all the titles in this post, along with a few… (more)

"You can't go. You're getting over your sickness, remember?"
"My sickness? Okay, what sickness, Ma?
You know what these are! They are gazebos! Bullshit!" :) hahaha
If we split up like last time, that clown will kill us, one by one, but if we stick together, all of us... we'll win. I promise.

There is a church full of Jews. And Stan has to take the super Jew-y test.
-But how does it work?
They slice the tip of his dick off.
-But then you'll have nothing left!
It is true.
- Wait, you guys! Hey, Stan, what happens at the mitzvah anyways?
Ed says you slice the tip of the d-d-d-dick off.
-Yes, Rabbi's gonna pull down your pants. And he will tell the crowd: "Where's the beef?".
At he bar mitzvah, I read from the Torah... and then I make a speech, and suddenly I become a man.

Ok so let me get this straight. IT comes out from wherever to eat kids for like a year and then what? IT just goes into hibernation?
-Maybe it's like... What do you call it? Cicadas. You know, the bugs that come out once every 17 years.

Add a CommentGreat adaptation of a Stephen King novel. The acting was excellent!
This is good enough. The production quality is great, the kid actors did a good enough job. But I watched the 1990 TV miniseries before watching this. There were a few things changed, but this film really seemed to miss the Stand By Me charm that the TV miniseries had. The creep factor and the childhood 'magic' just seemed to not click for me on this film the way the miniseries did.
I watched it without sound in a loud area with friends, so it wasn't that scary. We actually just made fun of the movie and laughed most of the time. lol
it was a good movie. i havent seen the original. only parts of it. i may have to watch it and part two of this
If the novel It, by Stephen King, was an example of wonderful horror writing, then this beautifully crafted adaptation by Andy Muschietti is a solid example of how to make a proper horror film. The story is faithful to the novel sans any change, and that's a great thing because many filmmakers struggle to adapt the essence of King's works when they translate it into a movie, but by staying faithful to the novel, Muschietti's adaptation hits the right notes. A great factor with It is how well it subverts nonsense cliches found in horror films. Yes, there are awfully placed jump scares, but the emotional temperature is consistent. The dialogues are crisp, and they give away only what they need to. There are no foolish characters who deliberately get themselves into miserable situations (though in all fairness, many are underwritten). The film is technically solid, but it's really the sound design that stands out. The film is consistently thrilling and has a very focused narrative. I do wish that the performances had been better, and it maintained a consistent level of energy in the second hour as well, but these are minor flaws in what is a refreshing and mostly thrilling movie. (3.5/5)

IT is chilling and a great horror movie to watch either by yourself or with some friends, especially if you get scared easily! The young actors who were cast to portray the children in the movie did a fantastic job. There is this stigma that child actors are not the best actors, but this movie proves those people wrong. Each and every one of them shines, none of them seeming to upstage the other and do really well in throwing across the terror in facing all of their worst fears. Bill Skarsgard, who plays Pennywise does a phenomenal job too! The film does not opt for cheap jumpscares towards it's audience and even when it does said jumpscares do not feel undeserving. Instead, the underlying horror is really creepy. The relatable characters are what truly make this movie shine. This is not the first adaptation of Stephen King's novel, but I personally feel it is the most well-adapted and best suited to watch. I give it a 5/5.

I give this movie a 3 out of 5, as a person who watched the older It movie before any of the new ones, it wasn't that scary and I was disappointed. The older movie was such a good movie, and there was such a hype for the new one to come back that I was so excited that they were remaking it. But when I went to go watch the movie I was upset when it was just that. First off, it wasn't scary at all. It only got to me once during the whole movie, and that's only because of a cheesy jump scare and it only got to me because I wasn't paying attention. I laughed during the whole movie, that's how much it wasn't scary, but the storyline had parts of the movie that I enjoyed. I loved the iconic line of the clown in the sewer, and Georgie talking to him, I loved that part. They perfected that part. The acting was good, nothing huge to talk about, but it was good. The soundtrack was amazing I love listening to it. Like I say the soundtrack is a key to a good movie because it sets the mood and feeling of the movie. I recommend this movie to people who like horror that isn't too scary, it is not very scary from my point of view, but it does depend if you get scared easily.

WHAT THE F***
I really didn't want to watch this movie but my preteen convinced me. It was good. I really liked how the director had a blend of horror and life as a kid growing up in a small town.
So freaky, I couldn't sleep for two weeks!
it was good movie to share the horror with friends but it is very scary to younger children. so this movie mite be good for them to see but it is up to you mom and dads. This movie is only chapter 1 now i can not tell you about chapter 2 it has no same it is differnt from chapter 1. but it is a good story to see how kids see things and we dont.
Fun, somewhat frightening adaptation of the Stephen King novel at times seems more than worthwhile to attempt another go at filming it, then it reverts to scenes where I ask myself, "Why did they bother? Oh, yeah! Everthing gets remade now! It's called a lack of creativity and more $! I get it!" With that said, this is likely worth a look, more so if you're a fan. It does have its moments and, overall, the cast of kids is not only stronger, but they have a whole film to work in, unlike the 1990 TV miniseries.
