Capitalizing on the mythical and emotional build-up that was present in the first book of this series, things really start to kick off as the young girl, March, befriends and gives purpose to the shape shifting creature she's named "Fushi." In spite of the purpose and levity March adds to the series, her presence doesn't stop it from throwing some real emotional punches, creating a dramatic story of man battling the will of nature akin to Ghibli's Princess Mononoke.
