One of the world's great comedy teams set out on a variety hall tour of Britain in 1953. Diminished by age and with their golden era as the kings of Hollywood comedy now behind them, they face an uncertain future. As the charm and beauty of their performances shine through, they re-connect with their adoring fans. The tour becomes a hit, but Stan and Ollie can't quite shake the specter of Laurel and Hardy's past.

An excellent story of the greatest comedy team in the history of film. Coogan and Reilly are dead on in their portrayals of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. The magical chemistry of Laurel and Hardy transcended ages. Their humour covered all the bases; verbal, physical and musical.
It is unfortunate the Library does not have their best films for burrowing. Films like Our Relations, Sons Of The Desert, Blockheads and Way Out West. Flying Deuces is available but unfortunately it falls a little short of the previous mentioned films. It is still worth watching.
Coogan and Reilly not only look amazingly like Laurel and Hardy they have their speech patterns and mannerism down to a tee. As good as Rami Malek did for Freddy Mercury.

I was prepared to not like this movie as most of the movies today are violent crap. This movie surprised me. It was as if Stan and Ollie were really there! Outstanding movie.....

Well worth watching. Great acting by leads John C Reilly (who got an Oscar nomination for this role) and Steve Coogan! They have the mannerisms, voices, timing and everything down so well, you'll think you're watching the real Laurel & Hardy. The story opens after their glory days and is about their very close friendship off-stage as well as on. You'll get a sense of who they were in private life. It starts out a little slow but pulls you in gradually. After seeing this movie, I have a much greater appreciation for this classic partnership. I hope all of it was true!

Must See !

A fitting tribute to the great comedy duo. It fits some L&H gags into their real life seamlessly. The impersonations by the two leads are remarkable. Reilly especially conveys the grace of Oliver Hardy, and Coogan has mastered Laurel's mannerisms. I particularly liked the way he would check the sole of one shoe, and then his cufflinks, right before going on stage. The show must go on, until it didn't.
