Charlie Watson discovers and repairs an old Volkswagen Beetle as a way to remember her father and stake her independence from a stepfather she abhors, with only the music of The Smiths and the unrequited crush of the boy-next-door for friends. When she discovers the VW Bug is actually an alien robot on a reconnaissance mission for the rest of his race, the two form a bond which eventually has her putting her life on the line against evil alien robots, high school bullies, and the government.

Pretty damn entertaining action movie.

I was pleasantly surprised how good this was. The first ten minutes or so is a lovely homage to the 80s cartoon, before getting into a heartfelt adventure that works a lot better than previous fliks by shrinking the cast and focusing on getting the robots as iconic as possible. Would happily watch again.

Was a nice watch, great C.G.I use with Bumblebee, his eyes spoke loud. Great colour pallette, choice of music, and overall chemistry. Really liked Hailee Steinfeld (same actress as True Grit and Edge of Seventeen), and Jorge Lenderborg together on-screen.

I was so surprised by this film! I never really liked these Micheal Bay led Transformer films, they were too bloody for my taste. This reboot is welcome and a great way to bring new viewers to the series! This coming of age tale can be enjoyed by the entire family.

I wish it had more depth in the character's origin. Not a bad movie though language was good.

I wasn't a fan of the first movies with Shia LaBeouf, and the Mark Wahlburg ones were only marginally better, but this one was really good!
The CGI was a lot better: I always found that the Transformers in the previous movies were overburdened with detail and had no real focal point, and the frame rate in the first couple of movies made them blur every time they moved. But in Bumblebee, they had a more classic feel to them, and you could actually focus on them. You weren't constantly trying to find their faces.
The acting felt more natural, too, and the story seemed a lot more family-friendly than the previous movies, which were more suited to a PG-13 audience as far as story went. This one's more of an "age 8 and up" movie.
