Sort of a "pre-quel" to the TV series beautifully done, with lovely scenery (if you like desert) and glorious sunsets and sunrises. This Wild West meets drug war takes a strong position on racism, sexism, and corruption in the police force. You have to ask yourself at some point, do they hate him because he's an Aboriginal, or do they hate him because he is honest and hard working? HIGHLY recommended, as is the TV series.

Australian version of a murder detective story in a indigent small town but lacked Hollywood's big budget and writers with twisty plots. Nonetheless, this film was awarded a sequel "Goldstone 2016" and the 2018 mini-series of same name, thanks to the charismatic "Abo detective" played by Aaron Pedersen and cinematography of the Aussie outback. Personally, liked Goldstone more.

Aussie cop drama. Aboriginal girls are getting murdered in a small town somewhere in Queensland (looking very outback - rural, dry). An Aboriginal detective returns home to investigate the case (Aaron Pederesen - he was in some of the Jack Irish movies - those shows are very good). Most of the problems seem to stem from corrupt cops - Hugo Weaving plays bad cop! I got lost with the storyline; murdered girls, wild dogs, corrupt cops, drug dealers, girls getting pimped out to truckers. The big shootout at the end had me confused (who was that guy wearing the mask?) Supposed to be made into an Oz police show next year with Aaron Pedersen and Judy Davis. Not bad, but not great because of the confusing storyline - maybe the t.v. version will be more fleshed out but you may want to watch this movie to get introduced to the characters and the setting.

A very good Australian film but do use the subtitles. The cast is a first rate collection of powerful Aussie actors and the film is sensitive to aboriginal matters. The film/series would suit a cinema fan of the Tony Hillerman Navajo police procedural genre.

Very bad movie. Difficult to understand the accent. Could not find the point in this at all! Waste of time.

Terrible! You can usually tell it's going to be a bust when the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the auto. 😎

The only "mystery" here is why I wasted 2 hrs watching this piece of crap!!

OK police procedural set in small farming & ranching town in Australia. Interest centers on Aboriginal integration into modern society. Pederson is good, Weaving, Kwanten & Thompson appear only very briefly. Chief fault: it's very slow and deliberate.

Australian movie about aboriginal policeman and his community. Good movie.
