Very enjoyable musical. Loved the costumes and changes to the songs yet keeping the meanings. Surprised that I liked some of the versions of the songs better than the originals. Left me with sorrow for how such a talented little boy could have been ignored by his family and his downward spiral; he only wanted to feel loved and belong like everyone else. We all know that Elton John has survived but knowing the extent of his pain and suffering brings greater respect for his genius. If you enjoy this movie get the CD soundtrack as well. Wonderful music on the CD also.

Never seen a story based on someone's life quite like this one; it focused on the feelings (of the songs and of life events) more than anything else and used creative visuals/camera/cuts/etc to illustrate them. Beautiful visuals and great job on the costumes. Made me feel so many things and the music felt so alive. Really, really well done!

Meh, nothing to write home about. The 'breaking into song' all over the place was very West Side Story. It's not really a biopic, more of a stylish foray loosely based around some events in his life.

It was pretty good and quite enlightening. It took a different approach to Bohemian Rhapsody, which was more conventional as a biopic. Rocketman is more of a fantasy interpretation. It took a bit of getting used to, for me. That said, my wife and I both enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans and non-fans who like his music and would like to know a bit more about how that all came about.

Am trying to get my thoughts together on this shocking bio. Produced by Reggie Dwight, (Elton John). No holds barred on homo sex scenes. Bernie's lyrics fantastic. Took a genius to provide the melody. Don't know how Elton continued to perform with all the drugs and booze. Such outrageous costumes! A genius , such a gift. Lost a lot of respect for this performer. As I write he is ill 10/27/19. He also has a book just published. Egerton was a perfect fit for the role. Did he do all the singing????

Produced by Elton John, he would have approved all the elements of this movie, even the unflattering moments. This is a musical fantasy, with autobiographical elements. It was good to see the homage paid to the spectacular outfits and actual video's of the time. Bryce Dallas Howard is a good actress, but was badly miscast as his mother. This film is watchable again, but only for the music, even though Taron Egerton doesn't sound much like Elton John.

Thoroughly enjoyable movie. Follow Elton John's journey from boyhood to trendsetting and talented musician. Sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll ... but plenty of flashy outfits and dancing and all of the songs you know and love. Recommended.

An okay movie, but not as good as Bohemian in every way. Probably because at its core Elton John is a genius but not a tragic figure and in the end is very happy. Bohemian was great because it elicits the loss we feel knowing someone was lost too early. Just a different feel and theme which makes this movie a lesser of the two.

Streets Of Laredo lyrics duet by Taron Egerton & Jamie Bell

As I walked out in the streets of Laredo
As I walked out in Laredo one day
I saw a young cowboy, wrapped all in white linen
Wrapped in white linen, as cold as the clay
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong
I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy
These words he did say as I boldly walked by
Come sit down beside me and hear my sad story
Got shot in the breast and I know I must die
Go fetch me some water, a cool cup of water
To cool my parched lips, then the poor cowboy said
Before I returned, his spirit had left him
Had gone to his Maker, the cowboy was dead
Oh, beat the drum slowly and play the fife lowly
Sing the Death March as you carry me along
Take me to the valley, there lay the sod o'er me
I'm a young cowboy, I know I've done wrong

26 quotes in IMDb already, thank you! The most moving ones are those between Elton and Bernie:

Bernie Taupin: I love you, man. I do, but... not in that way.
Elton John: Thank you, Bernie.
Bernie Taupin: You're my brother.
Elton John: Bernie. I never told you how much I need you.
Bernie Taupin: No, no, no. I love you, man. Always have, always will. You write songs that millions of people love. And that's what's important. You just need to remember who you are, and be okay with it.
